Only 20% of Australians report sleeping uninterrupted!
That's a pretty low percentage.
So what is keeping us awake at night?
💤Sleep disorders - there are over 100 different types of sleep disorders with OSA, Insomnia and narcolepsy being some of the most common.
📲Smartphone use - A survey by the National Sleep Foundation (in USA) found that 95% of people use electronic devices within the hour before bedtime, which can impact sleep quality.
🍺A big night out! Or even a few drinks too close to bedtime will affect the way you sleep.
🍽️ Meals or snacks - a big meal too close to bedtime as well as heavy or spicy meals, can make it difficult to get to sleep. But on the flip side, don’t go to bed hungry as that will do the same thing.
Here's another important thing to ponder 👇🏻
If you find that you are struggling to sleep because your mind is racing and there are thoughts you can’t put aside, then try getting them out of your head.
Write it down so you know you won’t forget it. Get up and get a glass of water or have a cup of tea. Read a little to relax and get your mind off your thoughts.
Then, when you feel sleepy again go back to bed, relax and listen to some soft music if that helps.
